Energy and food prices present a mixed outlook for Algeria

In forecasts announced on 28 October, the World Bank expects global energy prices to rise by 32% and fertiliser prices by 14% in 2026. Food commodity prices could increase by a cumulative 18% over 2026–2027 compared with 2025. TSA highlights the two sides for Algeria: potentially higher oil and gas export earnings, but also a larger food import bill. These projections depend in part on how conflicts develop; they do not predict an identical increase in Algerian consumer prices.
