Consumer protection: proposals for more stable markets
The vice-president of Algeria’s national consumer-protection union has called in Echorouk for digital reporting of commercial abuses, backed by personal-data protection and effective complaint handling. He also advocates stronger agricultural marketing bodies and processing, storage and refrigeration facilities close to production areas. The aim is to reduce losses and disruptions to supplies. These are proposals, not measures already adopted or an announcement that prices will fall.

Algiers water supplies: repairs announced in Bachdjerrah
SEAAL reported a fault in a main distribution pipe in El Badr, Bachdjerrah, on 30 October. Its statement, relayed by Echorouk, says repair work will delay the water distribution schedule in several parts of Bachdjerrah and Kouba, including El Badr and La Proval. The company expects the usual schedule to resume gradually once repairs are finished. The statement gives no precise restoration time and does not describe a blanket interruption across both municipalities.

Breast cancer: support that continues beyond treatment
At an awareness day organised by Douera hospital’s gynaecology and obstetrics service on 28 October, a clinical psychologist advocated psychological support from diagnosis, throughout treatment and after recovery. Echorouk reports her call for clear, empathetic communication about the illness. Families and support groups have a role in listening, without excessive pity or pressure to resume everyday life too quickly. Psychological care should accompany medical treatment, not replace it.

A new international philharmonic orchestra with 70 musicians
The International Philharmonic Orchestra of Algeria has been formally established, according to APS reporting relayed by Echorouk on 30 October. Led by Amine Kouider, it brings together 70 musicians. Its creation follows presidential instructions at the cabinet meeting of 23 February 2026. The announcement accompanies celebrations of the 72nd anniversary of the start of the revolution on 1 November 1954. It concerns the formation of the ensemble, without announcing a concert programme.

SILA: a book traces Noureddine Melikechi’s life and work
TSA announces Rym Khelil’s presence at the Barzakh publishing stand until 7 November to sign “Nour. Noureddine Melikechi”. The Algiers International Book Fair runs from 29 October to 7 November 2026. The book recounts the Algerian physicist’s career, including his contribution to NASA’s Mars missions. Khelil says she worked on it from 2021 to 2024 through regular interviews with him, shaping the material into a first-person account. The interview gives no precise signing times.

Algerian Cup 2027: national-stage draw set for 17 December
The Algerian Football Federation has scheduled the draw for the national stage of the 2027 senior Algerian Cup for Thursday 17 December 2026 at 17:00, Echorouk reports. The 16 Ligue 1 clubs will enter at the round of 64, the first national round. The announced date is for the draw: it is neither a fixture schedule nor an announcement of the pairings.
