Local elections: draw to allocate media airtime gets under way
The independent national electoral authority launched a draw on 29 October to allocate media airtime to local election candidates, Echorouk reports. The procedure took place at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Centre. It forms part of preparations for the election of members of municipal and wilaya popular assemblies, scheduled for 28 November 2026.

Moscow summit: Algeria calls for fairer African representation
In a message read by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb at the Russia–Africa summit in Moscow on 28–29 October, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune called for fair and equitable African representation on the UN Security Council. According to Echorouk, he also advocated peaceful settlement of conflicts and highlighted the trans-Saharan road, energy links and telecommunications as contributors to continental integration. These are diplomatic positions, not an announcement that UN reform has already been adopted.

Saidal and Syntegon discuss a vaccine production line
Pharmaceutical Industry Minister Ouacim Kouidri met Syntegon in Germany on 28 October to work towards finalising the purchase of a vaccine production line for Saidal. The delivery timetable was among the issues discussed. According to the ministry, quoted by TSA, the project is intended to supply Algeria with locally made vaccines included in the national immunisation schedule. Saidal also aims to export to African countries through UNICEF procurement programmes. These remain negotiations and objectives: the report does not announce an operational production line.

NESDA announces two digital services for entrepreneurs
The national agency for entrepreneurship support and development announced the launch of two platforms on 29 October. Echorouk, reporting the agency’s announcement, says Sawt El Mokawil — the Voice of the Entrepreneur — is designed to receive concerns, complaints and suggestions from entrepreneurs and people developing projects. Dalil provides an information base covering project profiles and investment opportunities. NESDA presents the services as another step in its digital transformation.

Timimoun: balloons over the dunes, giant kites on the programme
Hot-air balloons flew over Timimoun’s dunes on 29 October, watched by residents and tourists. The first international hot-air-balloon and giant-kite festival runs there from 28 to 31 October, TSA reports. A giant-kite competition and balloon flights are scheduled for Friday 30 October, with musical and folklore activities also planned.

Military football: navy team wins the cup on penalties
Naval Forces Command won the 54th Algerian military football cup on 29 October. At the military sports preparation centre in Ben Aknoun, the final against Air Forces Command finished 1–1 before the navy side won the penalty shoot-out, according to Echorouk. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune presented the trophy to the winners.
