From a commercial past to a cultural role
The institution's account attributes the 1922 building to the architect Émile Cayla. Later known as the Galeries algériennes, it was transferred to the cultural sector in 2007. The museum opened in 2017 as an annexe of the Ahmed Zabana Museum before becoming an independent institution in 2019.
