Batna Moudjahid Museum

Situated on the road to Tazoult, Batna Moudjahid Museum preserves documents, objects and testimonies relating to the War of Liberation, with a particular focus on the historic Wilaya I, Aurès-Nememchas.

Material and oral archives

A report on the museum’s activities describes weapons, equipment, reports and letters from National Liberation Army fighters, as well as photographs of resistance fighters and martyrs. These collections are presented in two exhibition rooms. They offer an insight into both individual lives and the organisation of the struggle in the Aurès.

The museum also collects filmed and audio testimonies. The interviews discussed in the source cover, among other subjects, preparations for the launch of the uprising in November 1954, the Legrine meeting and the distribution of weapons at Dechrat Ouled Moussa. Collecting these accounts complements what objects and written documents can convey.

Mustapha Ben Boulaïd and places of remembrance

A wing is devoted to Mustapha Ben Boulaïd, with photographs, documents and personal belongings. The report links certain discoveries to the restoration of his home in Arris. That house museum is, however, a separate place to visit, located in Arris rather than in the Batna building.

The activities described include seminars and commemorations, and the museum welcomes school groups as well as researchers. These details illustrate its educational role; they do not constitute a current programme. The available address is a roadside location, with no street number or confirmed direct contact details.
